Hi people
I no longer have net_applet access as user. This happened after a few updates. I'm guess it's a perm problem. Any ideas where to look?
Thanks
Kate

This might or might not be on soe level the same thing as you see, but on my devuan/beowulf testsystem wicd-gtk is no longer able to set up a wify connection. running wpa_supplicant from commandline as root works.
Nik
Thanks

Hi Ali
Hope all is well there with you and yours.
"sorry I didn't read this earlier" not to worry. All good things in time.
I think the problem might have something to do with the authenticate app (see image). Almost everything that uses this doesn't work. Where I can, I just use tde's.
I hope there's a clue in there that sparks something.
Take your time, until there's an answer, I can run it using tde's root password thingy.
Kate
PS Hello to all.

that pop-up usually happens when it's invoked to run as root, as you possibly know, you can chown net_applet itself by opening a konsole, su to root and issue chown yourusername:yourusername /usr/bin/net_applet and that will change the ownership, after that right click the menu button and edit the menu and navigate to the entry and if need be edit that to point to /usr/bin/net_applet

What is this net_applet anyway?
I have not seen this in TDE. The TDE netmanager was working more or less well for me.

net_applet is a pclinuxos tool that puts a little applet in the systray, when clicked it opens the draknetworkcentre to configure networking Remember who you love, tell them you love them, life is too short for regrets.
