Dear all, from the R14.1.x series, double clicking on an empty area (i.e. not over an item) in Konqueror's listview or iconview will navigate to the parent folder. This is a very useful shortcut when you are navigating through folders using Konqueror and spare you from either having to move the mouse to the "Up" arrow or using Alt+Up on the keyboard. The functionality will also be available on the nightly builds as soon as the code can be pushed and the build farm has rebuilt tdebase. Due to the current r14.0.x building process, the code won't be pushed for a while though. If you are interested, you can rebuild from the current tdebase GIT code and the attached patch.
Cheers Michele
PS: it may be worth reminding another new functionality available from the R14.0.x series, which may have gone unnoticed to most of you. If you are renaming a file in Konqueror using a listview widget (not the iconview - yet), you can move to the next/previous item using Tab/Shift+Tab without exiting the "rename mode". This is useful when you need to rename several adjacent files, since you do not need to press F2 -> rename -> Enter for each file but just do F2 -> rename -> move to next/previous item -> rename [ -> move to next/previous item -> rename --- repeat as needed] - -> Enter
There will be a release? What chance is for updated language files for translation upadting? MCbx

R14.0.1 will be released as soon as ready. As already announced on the main website, the code base has been frozen and packages are now being built.
For language translation updates, I will need to discuss with the other main developers. Before R14.0.0 was release, Tim did some work for that and we initially discussed how to "bring the translation process to the user", but then due to lack of time everything came to an halt.
Cheers Michele
Sorry for my off-topic :) Generally, the translation process (going through .po files grabbed from git cloning and fixing missing/bad strings), is relatively simple. It's not a "Web 2.0" way but it is still made using nice and user-friendly tools (KBabel). I think the main problem is with synchronizing code with translations. Some strings are made "static" way (e.g. in TDE's hardware information dialogs) and they are not present in translation files. The best would be to have an infrastructure that allow users to upload their new translated files somewhere (a website page for example) and then some sort of automatic update to the main repo.

The "static" strings could be changed to "dynamic" ones. If someone puts forward a list of strings that requires to be made translatable, we can surely do that.
Cheers Michele
Hello About strings, the first one... a whole Control Center hardware device manager module. As far as I can analyse source code, I can't find translations for it. Control Center: "ICC Color profile" applet - has translations noted only in makefile. But it looks like they are not present. There is also something in libraries which makes some system actions like "Paste" and "Quit" show in English, it can be seen in Basket program, but I have problems locating their strings.
