I would love to answer this question, but I do not understand it. I don't find anything like home url under settings > configure (might

Thank you Dave for the perfect visualization. On my side it looks exactly the same (only the language makes it hard to understand).
Do you see the tree view when you open new tab (CTRL+t) and select a directory or press the "home" icon?
In fact when I open new tab and select any directory I see the default icon view or whatever view it is
regards

I _always_ get Detailed List view (local, removable and remote directories), because that is what I moved to the top of the appropriate Services Preference Order lists... circled in the attached image. You need Tree View at the top of that list.

I see the treeview on top, but when I press the home icon i always get the icon view (see attached sc2). Not so if I press the home icon in the first tab. The same if I click the home directory link in the left system view.
To me it looks like the tab does not take the setting from what I have saved for the original first tab or default konq behavior.

Weird. I'm guessing that clicking the folder icons leads to more icon views. What is the embedding preference for the folder icons, e.g. the bea icon in sc2? Right click icon > properties > wench/spanner > embedding preference order (the home embedding.jpg I posted earlier, bottom right).
Have you tried changing your home icon view (sc2) to List view (View > View Mode) and saved your profile (Settings > Save View Profile...)?
...I found two of the related configs. My .trinity/share/config/konquerorrc has: [ModeToolBarServices] external=konq_detailedlistview All my .trinity/share/apps/konqueror/profiles have: ViewT0_ServiceName=konq_detailedlistview

.trinity/share/config/konquerorrc
[MainView Settings] BackRightClick=false OpenMiddleClick=true SaveViewPropertiesLocally=true ToggableViewsShown=konq_sidebartng ViewMode=konq_iconview
[ModeToolBarServices] external=konq_treeview konq_iconview=konq_iconview konq_listview=konq_treeview
Hmm, I did following last time. I switched to tree view from the view icon and now when I open home in new tab it opens in tree view (sc4). It looks like it has to be done for each directory, because when I press CTRL+t I have a totally different set of icons (sc5). As soon as I select a directory it goes into iconview .. perhaps it is ViewMode=konq_iconview from [MainView Settings].
thanks & regards
