Hi,
Whenever I call kpdf to view a pdf-document, it starts as a "small" ribbon of approximately 240x1100 pixels on the top of the desktop. Of course this window can be elongated via mouse actions. Tedious. I altered the kpdf.desktop-file to execute "/opt/trinity/bin/kpdf --geometry 950x1170 --caption "%c"" and now the window is expanded to my liking. But when Slavek releases an alteration to the kpdf package - quite often the case - my .desktop gets overwritten and I get again the ribbon. And must again correct the .desktop-file. Pita. Is there a method to keep this file in "my" state and not overwrite it blindely? The "i" flag is not a viable solution.
Rgds. Peter.
Hello,
You can set a rule with the window manager. In case it is TWin (the standard Trinity window manager) first resize the window to the preferred size (optionally), then right-click on the titlebar of the KPDF window (or somehow else open the window menu), find an item which says something like "Special application settings", then enable the checkbox that defines the window size (the current window size is automatically filled in) and select either " Remember" or "Force" from the drop-down menu. TWin rules don't get overwritten by updates. Good luck! :-)

Hi!
On my system TDE saves the windows dimension when it is closed and its state is non-maximized, so maybe this works for you, too.
The other way would be to define a window specific setting (Icon of kpdf window -> "Fensterverhalten festlegen .." -> "Fensterspezifische Einstellungen" -> "Neu" ...)

Don't remember if this work, but trying pressing Ctrl when you close the window. Twin should remember its size next time it opens. Cheers Michele

Hi Peter,*
I'll throw this in, since I didn't see it in any other answer. Check to see if you have a config file for Kpdf. This one seems like it:
$HOME/.trinity/share/config/kpdfrc
Mine has a section
========== [MainWindow] Height 1080=801 Width 1920=1429 ==========
that seems to do what you want? (The first numbers seem to be my monitor size, the second numbers seem to be the Kpdf size)
Best, Michael
* Welcome to the list? Or, I don't remember your name so, "How ya doing?"

No, it doesn't, regrettably. But Philippe and Nik gave the solution. Thanks nevertheless and rgds, Peter

Rgds. Peter.
I have been seeing this since ever (sorry for not reporting the bug).
When the navigation area in kpdf is shown (it remembers this setting) and you open a document, then kpdf opens in a window which is vertically sparsely extended. It doesn't behave like this if you launch kpdf without a document. Also, when the document doesn't have the chapter or overview part, i.e. in a scanned document, kpdf does not open in this shrinked way.
If the navigation area is not shown kpdf opens vertically maximally extended like expected.
We probably should report a BUG.
HTH
Kind regards, Stefan
