Hello. I installed Ubuntu with TDE environment, but the manager software was absent. So I managed to install, but now says I have no privileges to run. How to solve it? I've never seen it before on a distro. Another problem is that these same errors occur when trying to install a .deb package. There is not bound program to perform the installation. I would like to use the TDE as my default environment, but I am finding these obstacles. Because there is no TDE distros that came with software managers like the Ubuntu one. I'm not talking about Synaptic, which many softwares is missing. I have installed the TDE on SolidX distro, but it is buggy, and always lose the saved session. Which distro you recommend me that works out of the box, with TDE environment? It would be possible to install TDE in Mint Debian Edition? I do not want to use RPM-based distros. Thanks in advance.
By the way, the ISO image called "tde-ubuntu-4.14-desktop-latest-amd64.iso" found in http://tde-mirror.yosemite.net/trinity/cdimages/ubuntu/ is wrong. Its environment is the Ubuntu Unity. I lost a cd media with this deception!

You can try ExeGNU/Linux - it is based on Debian / Devuan with Trinity as default desktop environment. Is based on Trinity stable branch.
By chance I also found out yesterday that LiveCDs for Ubuntu Nightly are broken. As the title suggests, these images are (should be) based on the Trinity nightly builds == development branch.
For information: Maintenance release R14.0.1 should come soon, and along with that I will prepare the LiveCD for Ubuntu 14.04 with stable Trinity R14.0.1.

Nightly builds are not a good choice if you want everything to work right every time. I'd suggest you use the .iso's here instead: http://tde-mirror.yosemite.net/trinity/cdimages/ubuntu/release/R14.0.0/

AFAIK, there are a few "ready to go" distros available. Have a look at the links in this page: https://wiki.trinitydesktop.org/Category:Documentation#LiveCDs_with_Trinity - - PCLinuxOS (external) is runnign R14.0.0 - - Debian: the EXE distro mentioned by Slavek
Also Q4OS (www.q4os.org) is available, although customized to look like WinXP.
Cheers Michele

The best/most complete way for tde install is: 1. install a standard unity ubuntu 2. google tde desktop and go to the site:
https://www.trinitydesktop.org/
3. follow the directions for adding the relevant repositories and keys to your system 4. install aptitude. 5 . followthe last directions from the tde site, install trinity. 6. in the middle of the installation choose your display manager. btw, if that was doable at the start of the installation, it would make things more proper:) 7. go for wine/beer/coffee/tea/juice/milk/ i hope no soda carcinogens:) 8. come back, enjoy:)
good luck, d.

To avoid getting all the Unity cruft, perhaps you could start with a Lubuntu or Xfce installation. -R

If you are planning to use only TDE as DE, I recommend doing a basic installation without any DE (just CLI available at the end of the installation), then install TDE on top of it. At least this is how I install my system.
