I'm not gonna waste time rehashing why I don't want systemD. Went through something similar when KDE4 came out and was told to get with the programs and "upgrade". A new version is usually not an upgrade.
I've been using Debian with sysv-init, but only because systemd was
causing
problems and I needed time to learn it. The concept of keeping systemd and using init was a very good solution. I think I'll keep it on the server, but for the desktop, I do not see a reason why you should not use systemd.
Yep and other people don't see why we don't use KDE5 or GNOME3 instead of mate/cinnamon.
I guess you are also not driving a car from the 30ies.
Nope. I have 2 from the 80s though. Would have no problem with a car that old. I might spent a bit more in gas, but my paid off vehicles don't have a monthly payment & the insurance is cheaper. Always trade offs.
Kinda like my almost 15 year old Thinkpad T60p. Does what I need and has the 4x3 screen that makes it easier for me to get stuff done.
Agreed Larry.

Just answer the question, which is PCLOS Big Daddy build by Alistair Izzard. Not perfect but I can get everything I need done. Video/audio editing, desktop publishing, internet, email and more. Very reliable, hasn't failed me yet. Thanks Ali.
If someone else wants to use something else, wonderful. I look forward the comparison and stories about it. Difference is wonderful.
Just answer the question, the why of this question belongs only to the one asking.

To be honest, my biggest thing against systemD is I have better things to do with my time than learn it and deal with it's issues. I didn't like pusleaudio and saw no reason for it and it concerns me how much feature creep systemD has. I don't do IT work for a living anymore and just want to make use of my systems the way I want that works for me the best. There are still many people using MacOS 9 on old PPC hardware or Amigas, or pick your system.
I used to support a business that ran a 30 year old DOS program. I gave the guy a dozen P3 Dells about 10 years ago and he paid me to upgrade his old P2 stuff with them. Then I upgraded his server from NT4 SP6 to Win2k on a Dual 1.4Ghz P3 server. It was a hell of a speed boost for his network. But he didn't connect anything to the internet so his thing was why pay thousands to "upgrade" when the program he bought did everything he needed. Standardizing on a bunch of identical Dells made my support easier for me.

Yep. It amazes my how people will ignore what you asked to try to convince you that you are wrong.

nice. I have an 84 Olds Cutlass Supreme. And a 455 Olds sitting on the engine stand waiting to be rebuilt. That's one of the things I would rather spend my time on instead of learning something I don't need to know.

I ride a bike (though not so often as I ought to do), don't have any kind of motor vehicle, and build my computers out of spare parts.
If I could have got my old rotten Apple or Windoze systems to behave and do what I wanted, I would probably have stuck with that, and never gone down this rabbit hole. I am not such a purist, that I care to argue about this or that; I only know what works best for me.

Kate hopes off the soap box and mysteriously disappears to the mist. Thank you for your kind words :) Yes I know it's not perfect, although I hope withevery release it gets better :) I will be doing a round of ISO's soon (I now do 4).Trinity will be updated to latest, at this current time and that may change it's Kernel 5.3.7 TDE 14.0.6. As I don't see any updates from Trinity itself as of yet, I'll assume TDE will be the same. However I am going to make the larger ISO's I do "Big Daddy TDE" and "openbox" more uniform in the software selection. All come with Nvidia 430.5 OOTB (Obviously TDE will have TDE applications) but be more uniform, if that make any sense :D oh I said I do 4 ISO's now, TDE BD obviously, Openbox, Openbox-mini (it;s really naked) and Enlightenment :D all run on SysV init, no systemD For the record, build machine for TDE BD is a Fujitsu S751 second gen i5 machine all intel. my daily driver is a DELL E7440 Lattitude and an HP M6 Envy .
