Seems to work here, for everything BUT the message window itself. Bummer.

Scroll to message body, I think it's that one. Just keep playing with it, the option is there. I've set it to 14 point meself.

If it's here (see attachment), it's Very well hidden. The settings here for Message Body affect only the plain-text.

I have Kate, it changes the header display, but not the message body, when message body is selected. It used to work. But its been a couple points small for months now, makes it a bit difficult since I am in the middle of getting my cataracts fixed, so I'm wearing a slight minus in front of the right eye, and the old heavy duty ++ yet in front of the left eye. I can drive, but the world is a lot bluer to the right eye since the lens I was born with has now yellowed with 84 years of age. And I caught a cold or something, so I dropped our of the OR schedule & can't get back in till 12/2.

Try Kmail Setting/Configure/Appearance
That's where you change the settings for type font, appearance, color, background, etc., for Kmail text. I think the html settings are different in that you have to choose to send and receive html, or maybe it is rather that one chooses not to send html but plain text only (like the Present Author).
If I understand what you're (singular) asking and others (plural) discussing - how to make your text yellow and background black and quoted text green, and links red, et cetera ad infinitum et nauseam - I skimmed through the emails, sorry - then this ought to solve the problem.

It has zero effect on the message body Bill. Header display above the msg window responds, but the message body is ANAICT, fixed at an unknown font about 2 points too small. Its supposed to be Hack bold 14, a nice size for these old eyes, but I think its one of the serif's at 11 or 12 points. Of possible note, I do have the size scaled down according to the quoting level, and have not turned that off to see if it effects the main msg body. It shouldn't, but I'd be a fool to say that Ingo Klockers code was 100% clean since we all know better.
My code isn't textbook "clean" either, but some of it has been running here 24/7/365 since 2002, and doing exactly what I wrote it to do. Stability seems worth more than clean in this camp. :)
