kate configuration

At some point in the last year, kate started behaving differently here: when it opens a file for editing, there is now an extra column to the left of the contents of the file; the extra column shows the name of the file being edited. I can remove this extra column by hitting the word "Documents" which appears (rendered vertically) at the extreme left of the kate window. But I do get fed up of having to do this every single time I open a file for editing in kate. So how do I configure kate so that this additional column with the name of the file being edited no longer appears when kate opens a file for editing? (I looked at the kate configuration file, but nothing obvious struck me; searching the Internet also didn't produce anything useful that addresses this, but it's perfectly possible that I wasn't using a very good search string.) konqueror servicemenus

The konqueror servicemenus are used to provide a custom action when right-clicking a file on the desktop or in konqueror. In kde3 I would put the .desktop files I have in $HOME/.kde/share/apps/konqueror/servicemenus and they just work. In trinity, the correct place for these files seems to be $HOME/.trinity/share/apps/konqueror/servicemenus. However, putting anything in there does not give me the corresponding actions when right-clicking a file that matches the correct mime-type. I also see a similar directory under /opt/trinity/share/apps/konqueror/servicemenus with lots of preconfigured actions. One of them I get to see when I right-click on a text-file, which is "Edit as root". So the servicemenus mechanism seems to be working, just not for my own .desktop files... What am I missing here? I'm using trinity 14.1.0 on a devuan 4 install without any other desktop environment.

View on more than one, but less than all Desktops?

If you right click the Title bar of a TDE app (KMail) you get an ability to view the app on all the desktops or a single desktops (To Desktop). If you have 3 Desktops, is there any way to view the app on only 2 of the Desktops? If not, how much effort for our wonderful Dev's would this take? (If it's easy I'll go add it as an enhancement request, if it's a complete pita, it's not worth it.) Thanks, Michael

Locales language, icon FR becomes US

Hello, I have choosen FR-language in first and number two US-language. An icon FR is present down right. Many times, suddenly, the icon becomes US and the keyboard is QWERTY. Is it a bug or how to stop this change ? Thanks, Cheers. André

OpenOffice 4 wants gtk2-tqt-engine

I'm trying to get OpenOffice to work (required by another software I want to use). I have successfully installed openoffice, but when I try to start any of its components it fails with "The application gtk2-tqt-engine (soffice.bin-gtk-tqt-application) crashed and caused the signal 6 (SIGABRT)." It looks like it's imbedded in OpenOffice? Not sure. I've attached a trace. Might be related to the desktop I'm using (Trinity)? outdated wiki information

While I would not pretend being really a specialist, I do use Trinity (PSB) on MX-Linux. I noted that the installation instructions for MX say "latest version" 14.0.13" on a yellow background. This information is at least outdated. What should be done tu update this? Thierry

TDM hangs at the exit!!!

Hi In TDE14.1 the bug 2806 <https://bugs.pearsoncomputing.net/show_bug.cgi?id=2806> became even worse, that is the system often hangs at the exit on the black screen even with the SDM patch!!! In my case that is Debian 11. Regards, Roman

Problems since Bookworm migration, root rights

Hello, Since migration to Bookworm, I cannot modifiy all the files : /opt/trinity/share/apps/kdesktop/Desktop/.... I receive this message : "cannot make a save copy of the original document". Of cource, I changed the rights with chmod 775, the message is the same. On my other computer with Bullseye, never had this message, and the rights are 755. What happens ? Thanks, Cheers, André

Cleaning default keyboard layouts

Hi TDE 14.1.0 is cleaning up the default layouts from /etc/default/keyboard, so KKBSwitch doesn't work now. New users with clean configuration also cannot to switch the keyboard layout! Why does that performed for?
