where did my kmail address book go?

after the upgrade to R14, my kmail address book seems to have disappeared. (frankly, i've been a little cross ever since the simple one-line-per-address, plain text address book was deprecated ages ago in an attempt to be More Like Windows, but never mind.) when i sought to use it after the upgrade, it was entirely empty. did i miss a step? did it get moved? any recovery possible? thanks. -- dep The shortest distance between you and playing great acoustic guitar: the great new instructional DVDs from Marjorie Thompson, available at www.MarjorieThompson.com

WEP connection problem

Hello, My Lubuntu installation has been able to connect to a network secured with WPA2 and to another with WEP. My TDE installation, from the recent Exegnu live CD, can connect to the same WPA2 network but not to the WEP one - the authentication fails. Right now the WEP network is the only one available to me, and I hope to be able to use it to upgrade TDE. kdict blows up in R14

greetings . . . running kdict, either as the widget in kicker or from the command line, segfaults. from the commandline it reports this: ~$ [kcrash] TDECrash: Application 'kdict' crashing... Problem with installation on ubuntu-10-04

Hi, I try to install trinity r14 on an ubuntu 10-04-LTS-System following the advice of the Web-site. I allways get a timeout when the command aptitude install kubuntu-default-settings-trinity kubuntu-desktop-trinty try to fetch the packages. Why? Network is up and running and aptitude update has fetched the repository data and I can see the trinity-packages in aptitude. Fine regards Rolf

Trinity settings files?

I finally got Trinity installed, the package download took 90 minutes (I'm assuming the server is still being throttled by traffic) and it looks good. I am working through various things so I can set Cobber-Trinity up for end users in Australasia. So I have some questions. 1. I want to set the background (and other visual settings) via /etc/skel/ so that each new user automatically has a certain background (national flag), theme, desktop icons, menu type, etc.. What is the settings file(s) in TDE to accomplish this, and where is it located in the users home directory? 2. There doesn't appear to be a setting for touchpads to work like mice (e.g. touchpad tap opens file like a left click opens a file). Is there a settings or settings file somewhere that can accomplish this? I'm sure I'll have more questions but this will do for the moment. Cheers. Michael.

konq-plugins-trinity: not working on *.zip

I've got a problem with TDE 14.0.0: When I click on a *.tyr.gz-file it's opened in konqueror like a folder. But when clicking on a *.zip-file in konqeror I get an error message that the file format is not supported. konq-plugins-trinity is installed, ark is installed (it can read the *.zip file). Am I missing a plugin? Nik -- Please do not email me anything that you are not comfortable also sharing with the NSA.

xterm settings in r14

Hi, I would ask, if there is a reason, why the xterm in r14 starts with black foreground and black background, which may only suitable for blinds and can best read with braille devices? Rolf

Maximise doesn't really maximise, is this intended or is it a bug?

Hi As the title says maximise doesn't really maximise, it does enlarge to the edge of the screen but I can still grab the edge of the application (e.g. iceweasel,chrome, LibreOffice, etc) and change the size. I am used to maximise taking the application to the edge of the screen and not being able to grab the edge of it. Is this intentional or is it a bug? Cheers. Michael.

The Trinity Desktop Environment is a complete software desktop environment designed for Unix-like operating systems, intended for computer users preferring a traditional desktop model, and is free/libre software. Unlike previous releases TDE R14.0.0 has been in development for over two years. This extended development period has allowed us to create a better, more stable and more feature-rich product than previous TDE releases. R14 is brimming with new features, such as a new hardware manager based on udev (HAL is no longer required), full network-manager 0.9 support, a brand new compositor (compton), built-in threading support, and much more! Version scheme change Also new in this release is a change from the KDE v3.5.x series versioning. In line with our new, separate identity, and to avoid incorrect comparisons with KDE SC based on version number alone, we are dropping the old versioning scheme and replacing it with our new R-series versioning scheme. Each new release from this point forward will be identified with three numbers prefixed with an R (standing for "Release"); the first number is the major series, the second is the minor series, and the last is the Stable Release Update (SRU) identifier. Build from source tarball faced problem

Hi, I'm beginner of building TDE from source code tarball. I followed foot steps of installation guide. Even I can't say TQT has successfully installed via "make install". But I seems to be managed to execute "make install", with adapted TQT paths. After tdebase installed, I stopped. Suppose TDE R14 was my new desktop, but the desktop is still GNOME on my Debian Wheezy. What went wrong? Thanks, Tariq
