It's still interesting to hear how another person does it. I would rather use such a tool, of course, but knowing what is going on under the hood (so to speak, meaning all that work of measuring and calculating) helps me to grasp what is going on.
I try to appreciate everybody's contributions, whether I myself can actually use them or not.
