Package "tdebase-tdeio-smb-trinity" (devuan/debian) and then:

$ konqueror smb://the.mighty.host

I had tried the smb://the.mighty.host URL to no avail. Hence my request for guidance.

No such package at this end, but that triggered the fuzzy matter between my ears to look in the right direction. In my tdebase build script I have -DBUILD_TDEIOSLAVES="ON" (yay!) but for some unexplained reason I have -DWITH_SAMBA="OFF" (wtf!).

My foot is sore with all the self-shooting around here, not to mention my scalp is tender with all the head scratching. Who ever penned the phrase "golden years" with respect to aging never got old.

I wish there was a complete set of TDE build scripts for Slackware. I feel like I am walking with pebbles in my shoes. Oh well.

may be you need the required (dev)libraries so that it can detect them and activate the module.

Good thought, but I see the problem whenever I look in a mirror. :)

Anyway, I rebuilt the tdebase package with -DWITH_SAMBA="ON" and now I can browse remote Samba shares and see the shhare options in the Konqueror navigation pane. As Pepe Le Pew might say, "C'est tout!"
