Regarding the desktop icon text, is there a setting somewhere for this?
When Thunderbird was added to the desktop, "Thunderbird" was truncated with the 'rd' appearing on a second line. But when in the Properties, if the name is changed to 'Thunderbird Mail', the word 'Thunderbird' then appears entirely on one line. The monitor resolution is 1920x1080.
Screenshots showing both are attached.
Thanks in advance.

Probably the space between the words makes the difference. You might try shrinking the Desktop font with Control Center => Appearance => Fonts; that might help.

Didn't work. All that did was shrink the size of the fonts, along with the icons. 'rd' remained on the second line.

Put an underscore or non-breaking space (U000A) at the end?

Non-breaking space could not be entered. Underscore - looks funny, appears on desktop.

CTL-SHIFT-U then 00a0 <ENTER> inserts the space in the field, but it is not saved.

It shouldn't display like that in the first place.

Right-click on the bare desktop to pull up the properties, then hit the "Advanced" button under "Background" and you'll find the options for the width of the icon text and the number of display lines. There is no way to make it respect word breaks, though, and never has been. File an RFE bug if you like.

Thanks for this info.
I experimented with those settings, but couldn't get 'Thunderbird' to appear on one line, without 'Mail' included. /Width for Icon Text /truncated the icon text.
If it can appear on one line with 'Mail' included, then it should appear on one line without it, so I am suspecting it's a bug.
