All,
I'll keep this short and simple. The TDE project needs your financial support to continue hosting the services critical for further development.
This year we are have fallen significantly short of breaking even on the monthly expenses needed to keep TDE online and under active development; these expenses primarily consist of electricity for the TDE servers and Internet bandwidth. I have been covering the shortfall for several years now, but it has become a great strain over the past few months. If you would prefer to offer financial rewards for fixing specific bugs, that works too, but the bottom line is we need additional financial support to avoid further service cuts that could slow / stop development.
We are not in a position to outsource portions of the TDE infrastructure beyond what has already been migrated to external systems such as the mirror distribution system. Attempting to split up the remaining core would simply incur even higher bandwidth costs than what we already have, and altering the stable, running system at this point could end up halting development entirely.
Finally, I'd like to personally thank those individuals who have donated, are hosting portions of the TDE infrastructure such as the mirror system and backup site, or have been actively working on TDE development over the past year. Your contributions are much appreciated, and TDE would not be possible without them!
If you can, please donate to the TDE project here, and thanks!

Hi
Paypal sucks. I wanted to pay with my spanish credit card. The interface which allows me to pay without logging in, asks me for a city (ciudad) and a province, however whatever province I chose (I live in Madrid, province Madrid) is refused.
Could you please talk to the paypal guys?
Regards

Timothy:
I have or had a paypal account that I haven't used recently, as in 45 days or so, but all of my attempts to login and donate, I am always stuck at the spinning wheel wait screen, either after hitting enter using ff's password linked phrase, or clearing the and re-entering it by hand. Same result.
I am a convert to the TANSTAAFL phrase since RAH made it famous several decades ago, and I have been the recipient of your largess long enough I should pay the rent, as much as I can afford on SS. But after 15 minutes, I'm still looking at the please wait spinner. And a page refresh, f5, just continues the spinner.
If you are in the US, PM me with a USPS address, and I'll have my bank send you a check. I think the day after Christmas business has crashed paypal!
Cheers and thank you Timothy, Gene Heskett

Let us hope it's because PayPal is so busy with everyone making donations to Trinity! :-)
(BTW, I did a donation to Trinity via PayPal right after receieving Tim's second notice (Thanks for the reminder, Tim),and it Just Went Through w/o a hitch.)
Cheers and thank you Timothy,
+1 Happy New Year everyone, and Good Fortune to Timothy and Trinity! Jonesy

If I can afford it, I would like to pay, for a start, for the fixing of the spell-checker in KMail 1.9.10 on TDE 14, before it drives me completely potty. (Quite a lot of people complained about this some time ago, and then it died down.) Then there are other things I would happily pay for if I can afford it. But I have asked before and had no takers.
So where does one go from here?

Do you have a link to the bug report detailing the issue you are experiencing?
What are you willing to contribute if this bug gets fixed (feel free to reply off-list if you want)? If this bug also irritates other people perhaps they could contribute as well (lowering the per-person "cost")?
I haven't organised this publicly before, so suggestions are welcome on the best way to run something like this!
Thanks!
Tim

IMO the spell checker is as good or as bad as usual. Regarding KMail I feel relived we fixed the ssl problem ... it was really annoying.

I couldn't find a bug report either. Just the threads in the mailing list last year. [It is still 2016 here, so last year is 2015. ;-) ]
I'll attempt to create a bug report.
The problem is that the spell checker entry in the tools menu has disappeared, so I have been unable to run the spell-checker.
But there is the workaround of adding an icon. Perhaps the icon could be there by default?

The spell checker is in the settings menu instead, in an editor window.

No, it isn't. That is where you set the spellchecker settings, not where you run it.

I'm up to date, Lisi, and the spell checker is there, in the toolbar of this composer as I type this. It is not, and hasn't been for a long time in the main kmail toolbar. And it functions in the composer unless too many mistakes have caused a shutdown. Whats missing is a marker in the toolbar icon, like turning the green checkmark red to indicate its disabled. So we have no indicator of its operational status.
Another "bug" I might lodge, is that if you have added a word, like your name, to the ok list, it still hi-lights your name in red. But I've not been sufficiently annoyed about it to file a bug.
Perhaps I need to lower my daily dosage of St. Johns Wort?
Cheers, Gene Heskett

I couldn't find a bug report. But I have just done what I should have done ages ago. I remembered a) the threads and b) my own lack of sympathy (I did not have the problem at the time). I did not effectively search them all out (my search failed) and reread them in detail. I have just done so. I had not remembered that there is a workaround. So the proper spell check has disappeared form the tools menu and not reappeared, but one can work around it by adding an icon to the tool bar. I rarely use, and do not like using, icons, so had not registered the workaround in my memory.
I am fine with it. Can you post your spell checker bug(s), so that we may look at it (again), please
I'll try - it would still be nice to have the spell checker back in the menu so that it could be triggered from the keyboard.

I think the best is to describe your problem in a bug (as you mentioned). Missing icon is not a bug, you can label it feature request (even if it was there before) I have the spell checker active in kmail and in this news reader and it spellchecks while typing, which is really nice, highlighting all improperly spelled words. I am not sure if I can set up a different language though, which might be of interest at some point of time.

Yes, I agree. And will do so. And will also think of a clear way of stating another wish-bug for which I would be willing to pay. But I can't afford much. :-(

Agreed. I don't even like icons!! And as a rule don't use them. If I get my menu entry I shan't even want it!!!

Yes, it does that. And I agree that that feature is great. But it can also if asked actually run correcting spellings as does a word processor spell-checker. This is a great time saver. It asks before every correction, but cab correct the same error all the way through the document. This is what there is no menu entry for any more when there always used to be one.
The fact that a workaround exists in the form of an icon is great, if too Windows like, and it would have saved me a lot of time and angst if I had taken in that fact sooner, but I prefer working from the keyboard.

I think keeping the hands on the keyboeard is worth the bug report. I can not find a way to edit the Menu bar, if the entry spellcheck entry used to be there ...seems it could be put back....easy peasy :-)

I don't know if it was ever there, but right click on the panel and via properties one can add the icon easily. if spell checking was activated the item appears pressed.
I think all is fine with that.

thanks, that part works fine..Lisi et al, no to icons, hands on keyboard, alt+t opens Tools menu..etc. That key binding has been around quite awhile..the option to create a new key binding exists ..but remembering arbitrary key bindings is an issue with my memory.

There are those who like icons and those who like the keyboard. The other developers clearly agree with you that the spellchecker is fine and needs no work. You yourself obviously don't use this facility at all - only the red highlighting.
Hence my original suggestion that it might be something that those of us who want it - I at any rate - might be prepared to pay a bounty for. Greg Madden obviously agrees with me that the disappearance of a menu entry might be worth a bug report.

It's definitely worth a bug report...just file one with the expected behaviour and give a link to the new report, then I'll take a look at it to see what's involved for a fix.
Thanks!
