Greetings all;
I find that despite having gcode.xml installed at
/opt/trinity/share/apps/katepart/syntax/gcode.xml
neither kate nor kwrite can find it, as in offer it as a choice in the menu's. geany doesn't have that either so I am used to looking at gcode as plain text.
Whats next? The idea does sound helpfull if only to highlight the typu's these ancient fingers can make.
OTOH, I find kate takes around 20 seconds of standing on the down arrow key to get to the bottom of a 250 LOC .ngc file. Compared to geany, thats un-acceptably slow. It also apparently can't save the users prefs, so every new session has to be reconfigured to enable such as line numbers. geany remembers all that from session to session. I guess you know which one I'll use in day to day gcode composition.

I have this file on my system, too, and I think it's from the latest upgrade of kate in TDE PSB (Nik and Michele actually talked about it and announced the integration of gcode high-lighting into the package, but you probably know that already). I find "G-Code" in the menus: Tools -> Highlighting -> Other -> "G-Code"

Did you restart kate / kwrite after you installed gcode.xml ?

maybe copy "gcode.xml" to "~/.trinity/share/apps/katepart/syntax/gcode.xml" ...?

That's where I use "Ctrl + End" ;-)

IIRC, that's default behavior. I haven't checked again right now, but if I think you can configure that. Settings -> Configure Kate... -> Application -> Sessions -> "Save Session"
Just my two cents, Stefan

Not there in either.

Several times, even loading a .ngc file in case a trigger was needed.

Humm, curiouser: copy/paste from ssh session to that machine;
gene@GO704:/opt/trinity/share/apps/katepart/syntax$ cp gcode.xml ~/.trinity/share/apps/katepart/syntax/gcode.xml cp: cannot create regular file `/home/gene/.trinity/share/apps/katepart/syntax/gcode.xml': No such file or directory
There is no katepart in that path, and the whole tree is pretty sparse. This is a wheezy install.

I didn't try that, didn't want to muck up the code I had loaded in this snapshot: but that didn't work as an insert, I'll see if it will attach. That worked, now lets see if the server will pass it, I did not shrink it in gimp first so its 420k of base64. My apologies. It should show the open kate ->tools -> highlighting ->other, list of choices I do have.
Just my two cents,
Thank you, maybe we can get it to work after all.
