Hey Trinity Folks.
I'm having trouble getting xdg to play nicely with the file associations and settings I have for Trinity. While TDE applications follow them just fine, non-TDE programs don't seem to. That's fine, I tweaked xdg myself. The issue is that something happened and now non-TDE applications don't follow my "Open http and https URLs in an application based on the contents of the URL" (in TDE Components > Default Applications > Web Browser) anymore. Now when I click an http URL directly to an image or video, it opens up in my web browser.
I'm not really sure what's changed because it was working fine before. My initial thoughts are to find out how TDE opens "in an application based on the contents" and just assign it to xdg but I'm unsure of what that is or where to find it.
Thanks.

AFAIR it is in the TDE configuration (Control Center) >> Components >> File Associations.
There you can set the programs and priority to use for any extention

Forgive me but if you read what you just replied to, you'd have known it was useless.

well, well ... I forgive, but won't reply to you anymore :) unless you write something understandable.
Sorry if understandable.
Before I could open and modifiy directly .TXT files on a remote server, from my computer at home with sftp (ssh) Now, since short time, I cannot register these files directly on the remote server, because they are downloaded on my computer at home in a tmp folder, and then I have to upload the files to the remote computer, that it's harder and longer. Which manipulation I have to do in ? : TDE configuration (Control Center) >> Components >> File Associations => .txt section, to have again the modification directly on the remote computer, (gain of time).
Thanks, André
I have now this permanent message : "impossible to find the MIME type" application / octet-stream"
Quid ?

Make a file ~/.trinity/share/mimelnk/application/octet-stream.desktop with this content:
[Desktop Entry] Comment=octet-stream Hidden=false Icon= MimeType=application/octet-stream Patterns= Type=MimeType
Probably there is an easier way and I used that in the first place to create that file ... mit that's lost in the fog of time ... Nik

It is in the Control Center > File associations
application/octet-stream This MIME type is used for binary files, it's usually a fallback for unknown/generic MIMEs with no specific designation.[1]
so it is bad example

I enjoy the subject "File associations" : When I open and modify a .TXT file directly from a remote server, I have to close and upload the file to see the modification. With .PHP file I don't have this issue in two times. Strange, on another computer also under Trinity, I don't have to close the .TXT file to notice its modification, as .PHP file, that they are modified directly on the remote server. Which manipulation I have to do in ? : TDE configuration (Control Center) >> Components >> File Associations, in .txt section.
Thanks and cheers. André
