I am on Ubuntu 16.04 and trintiy 4:14.0.11~pre46-0ubuntu16.04.0+7
Now I swore I did this for years: lock session and log in as a different user, without really logging out and in.
But in the attached screenshot, I cannot find this entry anymore!
What do I miss?

Are you using a display manager other than tdm? On some machines I use lightdm, and the option to switch users without logging out is not available.

Nope, I use purely TDE. The option is in the kicker menu, so the dm in use should not matter. The menu of the session could though, in case you are not running a TDE session but using TDE program inside a different session :-)

I think it depends on whether you use the context menu's Switch User... or the one in TDE Menu. The first has the Lock Session option, but TDE Menu's doesn't.
