It supposedly causes the mail or news reader "display the face before the
From header". Seems to have no effect in kmail...
Ah, my mistake; in the header of your post I see a black square on the right.
How useful...
Hi,
I just installed Trinity R14.0.5 [1] in a recently installed Arch
Linux based system and I'm not able to start the DM. I added 'exec
starttde' line to .xinitrc and made the needed changes in my PATH
variable, but, when I issue startx command, TDE won't open.
Instead, the following message is shown:
-----------
There was an error setting up inter-process communications for TDE.
The message returned by the system was:
Could not read network connection list.
/home/username/.DCOPserver_hostname__0
Please check that the "dcopserver program is running!
----------
When I click 'OK', the TDE's splash screen appears, but the first icon
keeps flash infinitely and the above mentioned message appears again
underneath them. When I click on splash screen, it disappears and when
I click in OK again, X exits to tty.
The following video shows exactly what occurs:

This is the output from starttde command:

Deleting files from ~/.trinity and /tmp directories [2] doesn't solve
the problem.
I have an old installation of Arch Linux in a virtual machine where
Trinity works perfectly. So, I decided to play around with it and do
some tests. That system was a little outdated. Thus I decided to do a
pacman -Syu in order to update the system's packages. After updating,
I no more could to start Trinity. It looks like that a new version
from some package is breaking Trinity. Which one? I have no idea! But,
I saved a list of the updated packages and also a list of packages'
version before updating. Maybe some of you could try to find what
package is causing the problem.
Trinity works fine with the following packages' version:
argon2-20171227-3 audit-2.8.5-2 btrfs-progs-5.1-1 bzip2-1.0.6-8

I don't know if this is a Trinity or Arch Linux issue, but the fact is
that I'm unable to use TDE. If at least I knew what package is causing
this I could temporarily keep outdated until this problem is solved.
Thanks for your attention.
NOTES:
[1] http://repo.nasutek.com/arch/contrib/trinity/x86_64/
[2] https://www.trinitydesktop.org/faq/install.php#greyscreen
So I decided to try out Devuan Beowulf this weekend and got it installed no
issues did run into a few minor issues but I was able to work through them.
So I added the following to my sources list:
deb http://mirror.ppa.trinitydesktop.org/trinity-sb beowulf deps-r14
main-r14
Which I believe is correct if not let me know as I know there is no stable
and I have had good luck with the preliminary stable branch.
I do an apt-get update and I get the following:
Conflicting distribution: http://mirror.ppa.trinitydesktop.org/trinity-sb
beowulf InRelease (expected beowulf but got buster)
Not sure why I am getting it. It looks like I could still do the install as
a search shows all the packages but I am not sure if I should or not. I am
in XFCE right now but would prefer Trinity.
Good day everyone,
why does this command in bash:
$ konqueror --help-all
output return code 254?
$ echo $?
254
Shouldn't that be zero?
Kind regards,
Stefan

Yep, seen that before. This netscape plugin is a PITA.
Whenever I do an update. Lots of file associations are bonked.
For example audio ogg files, which are associated to multimedia apps like
Amarok, are suddenly associated with netscape plugin.
Is the plugin even needed anymore?

Hi,
The Konqueror preset for the View Mode is "Icon View", which IMHO is the
worst possible, as it gives no information at all except for the file type.
So I always have to change this to "Detailled List View", for every tab
and every new window. That is very tiresome, it keeps haunting me for
years now.
There surely must be a way to configure this once and for all?
Unfortunately I have not found the proper config file so far. Any hints?
Regards,
Michael
Good day everyone,
until now it appeared to me that TDE is only able to save the current
session through TDE Menu -> Save Session.
At the same time, as long as I remember, the in this way subsequently
saved sessions turn up as a set of session files in
~/.trinity/share/config/session and stay there, i.e. are never deleted,
not even, when the session is saved next time. I have always wondered
because I have never found a way to access the "other", older saved
sessions…
Now. Also in ~/.trinity/share/config/ksmserverrc several sessions are
saved with instructions to load or delete their respective session files
in ~/.trinity/share/config/session.
Let's have a closer look. Out of curiosity I played with dcop and got
this:
$ dcop ksmserver ksmserver
[…]
void saveCurrentSessionAs(TQString)
[…]
So it seems there is a function "saveCurrentSessionAs" which would save
a session with an individual name given as an argument "(TQString)". I
tried:
$ dcop ksmserver ksmserver saveCurrentSessionAs "MySession"
No error. The session files are created in
~/.trinity/share/config/session just as when you would save a session
via TDE Menu -> Save Session.
Then I looked in ~/.trinity/share/config/session and voilá, there
appears a session with the name "MySession".
There are three sessions listed:
[LegacySession: MySession]
clientMachine1=localhost
command1=soffice
count=1
[LegacySession: saved at previous logout]
count=0
[LegacySession: saved by user]
count=0
which then are described under their individual tags, obviously the
information needed for ksmserver to restore them:
[Session: MySession]
[…]
[Session: saved at previous logout]
[…]
[Session: saved by user]
[…]
I am familiar with TDE's ability to start with "Session: saved by user"
and "Session: saved at previous logout" and have always thought "that
was it, there's no more ways to save and restore sessions" because these
are the only available options in TDE Control Center -> TDE
Components -> Session Manager. Until today when I found the above
mentioned method to save an additional session with it's own name.
Question: How to restore that session that I have saved with the
name "MySession"? Or is it a feature implemented only halfway…?
Any feedback welcome.
Kind regards,
Stefan
Dear all,
I just did an upgrade from Debian Stretch to Buster. All seems to have went well, except one
thing. When KMail attempts to fetch mail via IMAP from a server that requires TLS I get an error
saying "Error initializing TLS". (Or something similar - I'm translating from Polish. The exact
message in Polish is "Błąd podczas uruchamiania TLS".) Any ideas?

I just installed a new kbd/mouse combo with only one common dongle.
Exploring the row of extra keys above the Fkeys, I found the audio
mute/volup/voldown worked but the one with a power off/on symbol crashed
kded, and now that whole row of buttons is dead. And can't be restarted.
But I was able to kill it with a root session of htop, and then I was
able to restart it, and I think everthing is back to normal. Running as
me, not root.
But I've no idea if its running as designed. Can this be looked at?
