Hi all, I've got a little but nagging problem with Kpersonalizer. I've setup a Raspberry Pi with Raspbian (the latest Raspbian Stretch works very well on a 3 B+, by the way) and installed TDE from Slavek's repositories. Then I decided to rename the "Pi" user. Since that, every time I log in I get Kpersonalizer. If I don't run it, I get no icons on the desktop. If I do, some of my previous settings are kept, some are lost (colours, windows decorations). This certainly is a permission problem and dome file not being written, but where? Root works very well. I could (and possibly will) create a new user, but first I would like to understand what is not going right. Thierry

Can't run tdesu any more (openSuSE)

Hello all, I just followed my systems proposal (on openSUSE) to update lots of things and there has been a change that I don't really master. Before the update, I could start programs that need root rights (such as Yast) with: tdesu <program>, and enter the password. After the upgrade, it no more works (the password window stays there and does not accept the password). Calling it from the command line brings: Daemon not safe (no sgid), not using it A search suggested (for KDE's kdesu) chmod G+S but this brings: The TDE binaries are not designed to be run with suid priviledges So: a) is this something new with newer kernels - so the problem will come to Debian soon? b) is there a solution

Trinity on OpenBSD?

Greetings, I have been very happy to be using Trinity for the past year. Though not a Debian fan, at least Trinity has given me back the much more productive KDE3 experience (compared to other DE's), and has run very well. So much better than the other DEs. I see that there was an announcement of a partial port to FreeBSD in 2016. Has anyone made any effort, or better yet had any success, with getting Trinity running on OpenBSD? Is it even remotely possible for an end-user to make the existing source work on OBSD? Or is it only possible if developers put in the effort? I have setup a VM with OBSD to try, but before wading in would appreciate knowing if it is even remotely possible and any pointers for resources to get started doing so on OBSD. tdenetworkmanager

Hi people I can't get tdenetworkmanager to connect as user. I can't see any config difference between the other machines. This is that thinkpad t60 I'm having trouble with (eth0 onboard works but the dock doesn't) Thanks Kate

1080p Theme recommendation?

Built a new system with a 22” 1080p monitor. The shipped TDE themes are basically non-readable at that resolution [1]. Text appears about like a 4 pt font size on the Window title, Tool/Task bar, Menu, ... Wondering if anyone has a recommendation for a theme they like that they use on a 1080p setup. (Link to where to download it hugely helpful.) Thanks, Michael [1] The YellowOnBlue-big has readable titles, but menus are so big they go off screen.

It's likely your problem with pclos was it was 32bit. pclos doesn't support 32bit anymore, not for a long time. I think since 2015 or 16. I have me test machines, data recovery machines, laptops and server all running Ali's Big Daddy rolls. It works great. The only thing I don't like and it happens TDE under any distro. It's the constant reloading of the gui when I install software. I don't understand why it does that. Bug? Kate
