Hello! My name is Marcin and i'm from Poland. I would like to help with some Trinity translations (Polish language). I started to play with Q4OS last days and made translation for them, but there are still few places where some better translation would be cool, or add it into places where it lacks. I would like to know how can i do that, where to start? Best Regards -- Marcin Wilk, http://www.marcinwilk.eu/

Server Maintenance

Changes to tdevelop for R14.1.x and R14.0.1
by Michele Calgaro 18 Jun '15

18 Jun '15

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA512 Dear all, in R14.1.x and in the somehow upcoming R14.0.1 release, tdevelop has reverted to use .kdevelop project files instead of .tdevelop files. Also, the main entry in such file was reverted to "kdevelop" instead of "tdevelop". This has been done to improve compatibility with KDevelop3 project files. When you switch to the "new" version, you will need the following renaming: 1) .tdevelop files -> .kdevelop 2) .tdevelop.filelist files -> .kdevelop.filelist 3) change <tdevelop> to <kdevelop> in any .kdevelop file 4) change </tdevelop> to </kdevelop> in any .kdevelop file Cheers Michele -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2 iQIcBAEBCgAGBQJVgRiSAAoJECp1t8qK3tXPPwoP/jciCGEv4z4kx581xI9X0iCr WjiZrmQX+ZbQOYhtv2+ZFsIjy3MdPvp5uWU0nEkcRAk1a2B+YNlLF/Dc5wE2Hw4O K328Xk6fIJ1WDq7sxH1lYOC6nB4I2rHShTZxf0gc8KV/F3ndsGwUHh/NPpyuWucx xO3afbb8IFvsJ7rCCkJFYGSWwQPnwuXjSiC2ao+mZY/TPBPPetZs67RVwJtaukj1 M9jE97jvpus12EIUmMclAnKDXmZKuZWU1a4CiMpnGDsbYx2jTZG0dXRij9uO5/yj slgVWbHLLECJWlj6HMYKRrSxQWK5QwkYkSOpn5OnOAgcZZd9EFwOokWfyGB973kg 4noc7pYuvEo0Tm18/jYJ8uzWECCOW+xFUoZTBSN3uSjj9h0d3302vzNsPzk/YPkX RxbTFrsZUO8Ya6fahD91taqJJd3AIZFhDqfwhfavt0HtAaY/iAaZWc0dsLd2Ge54 +MZACWz/g0+j0lGVcgI4OkxJqY8k6RtqEvKWLoo+BIfIXnPKlVRToELjwozG5ZCE On8Vkg/9BnIe17kWFei+UwlkwHB6t6z8hTDD/04gjeTK4UR5XyUYIjxfib4tLNbl Mrq/q/C9zfva5BlZGiuyJKZ+T3yznbXGyNHgSVD+3udiVlQSbUeGM88r/RnnqJCS 8bmphkuelzaSj+za9nS3 =jWev -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

Add a new projecto to TDE (kplayer-0.6.3)
by Emanoil Kotsev 08 Jun '15

08 Jun '15

HiI asked time ago on how to migrate/build KDE3 app on new TDE 14 The instructions helped a lot, though I had to update the scripts in the admin and debian directories to be able to produce debian jessie package. I love the 0.6.3 (old style) of kplayer. Is someone interested in using it? Now my question is related to the second part mentioning something about git, cleanup and commit. Is there a simple step by step howto for this as I am not that familiar with git and don't want to mess/spend much time on it.I need some basic help/guide on this if someone is interested in kplayer-0.6.3 running on TDE 14.It's just stupid I spent couple of days on this and there is no benefit for the community regards

[trinity-devel] questions about rosegarden package
by Fede Galland 02 Jun '15

02 Jun '15

hi all, I'm a newcomer to trinity, so I might be using the wrong channel for my question. First of all, let me state that I had grown dissapointed by the trend current linux is going, but I installed the trinity repos just to have the old rosegarden easily installed on my wheezy systems and I just can't believe how lightweight and featureful TDE is. It seems to perform better than the good old KDE3.5 To the point: Is anybody mantaining the rosegarden version shipping in trinity's repos? I mean, is it expected to report stability bugs on it? Why did you ship with version 1.7.0 instead of the latest 1.7.x series, 1.7.3 (as per rosegarden's sourceforge)? I tried compiling Rosegarden 1.7.3 just to see if it was easily achievable, but I got only as far as to point cmake to the tqt3 libs. It fails searching for KDE3's kcfg and whatnot. If this indeed is the correct channel I will provide debugging info. In a somewhat unrelated topic: Is it still possible to build KDE3.5 minded applications on trinity? Is there a guide with steps to change the dependencies? In other words, is trinity backwards compatible with KDE3.5? One other app I'd like to have running is kmiditracker, which depends heavily on KDE3.5. [rantmode] Thanks for holding this little fortress in the free software world. Many a great code base gets lost everytime someone decides we should be switching to a completely different as soon as something becomes stable enough not to worry about it (as it's happening to KDE4 right now). [/rantomde] Have a good one! Fede

CMake 3.1 and CMP0054
by Slávek Banko 31 May '15

31 May '15

Hi all, in the test build on Debian Stretch I noticed a CMake warning CMP0054. Warnings were in common CMake module - change therefore causes rebuild for almost everything. Please test the attached patch. See: http://www.cmake.org/cmake/help/v3.1/policy/CMP0054.html -- Slávek

Compiling tdelibs on FreeBSD stuck on tdehardwaredevices.*
by Dr. Nikolaus Klepp 17 May '15

17 May '15

Hi all! I try to compile TDE on FreeBSD. I succeeded on: - tqt3 - tqtinterface - arts - dbus-tqt - dbus-1-tqt - libart-lgpl But now I am stuck at - tdelibs Reason: libudev is not available on FreeBSD. Also there are some linux-only includes (e.g. linux/fd.h). As far as I can tell it's only "tdehardwaredevices.(h|cpp)" that needs udev. Is there an easy way to get rid of the libudev-dependecy and the linux-only-stuff? Some cmake defines I am missing? tdelibs on FreeBSD create unusable libraries
by Dr. Nikolaus Klepp 04 May '15

04 May '15

Hi all! I ran into a problem at building TDE for FreeBSD last weekend: - When I compile "tdelibs" with "-DHAVE_PIE_SUPPORT=OFF", then "tquic" segfaults when building "tdebase", i.e. dlopen() of any library built without PIE fails. - When I compile "tdelibs" without "-DHAVE_PIE_SUPPORT=OFF", then the build of "tdelibs" fails at certain points with "/usr/local/bin/ld: /usr/lib/crt1.o: relocation R_X86_64_32 against `_DYNAMIC' can not be used when making a shared object; recompile with -fPIC" - When I add "-shared" to the compiler switches for cmake, the build fails. I assume that HAVE_PIE_SUPPORT is a must, otherwise the built libraries do not work. Compilig fails the first time on "kgrantpty" with these messages: Scanning dependencies of target kgrantpty make -f tdecore/CMakeFiles/kgrantpty.dir/build.make tdecore/CMakeFiles/kgrantpty.dir/build /usr/local/bin/cmake -E cmake_progress_report /tmp/tdelibs.build/CMakeFiles [ 11%] Building C object tdecore/CMakeFiles/kgrantpty.dir/kgrantpty.c.o cd /tmp/tdelibs.build/tdecore && /usr/bin/gcc -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -fPIC -I/opt/trinity/include -I/opt/trinity/include/tqt -I/tmp/tdelibs.build/tdecore -I/tmp/tdelibs.build -I/tmp/tdelibs/tdecore -I/tmp/tdelibs/tdecore/network -I/tmp/tdelibs/dcop -I/tmp/tdelibs/libltdl -I/tmp/tdelibs/tdefx -I/tmp/tdelibs/tdeui -I/tmp/tdelibs/tdeio/tdeio -fPIE -o CMakeFiles/kgrantpty.dir/kgrantpty.c.o -c /tmp/tdelibs/tdecore/kgrantpty.c Linking C executable kgrantpty cd /tmp/tdelibs.build/tdecore && /usr/local/bin/cmake -E cmake_link_script CMakeFiles/kgrantpty.dir/link.txt --verbose=1 /usr/bin/gcc -fPIC -pie CMakeFiles/kgrantpty.dir/kgrantpty.c.o -o kgrantpty -L/opt/trinity/lib -L/usr/local/lib /usr/local/bin/ld: /usr/lib/crt1.o: relocation R_X86_64_32 against `_DYNAMIC' can not be used when making a shared object; recompile with -fPIC /usr/lib/crt1.o: error adding symbols: Bad value collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status *** Error code 1 I can add a "-shared" to the compiler directive and this part will work, i.e: $ /usr/bin/gcc -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -fPIC -I/opt/trinity/include -I/opt/trinity/include/tqt -I/tmp/tdelibs.build/tdecore -I/tmp/tdelibs.build -I/tmp/tdelibs/tdecore -I/tmp/tdelibs/tdecore/network -I/tmp/tdelibs/dcop -I/tmp/tdelibs/libltdl -I/tmp/tdelibs/tdefx -I/tmp/tdelibs/tdeui -I/tmp/tdelibs/tdeio/tdeio -fPIE -o CMakeFiles/kgrantpty.dir/kgrantpty.c.o -c /tmp/tdelibs/tdecore/kgrantpty.c -shared But it fails later once again and I absolutly do not know what to do about it: [ 40%] Building C object tdeio/misc/kpac/CMakeFiles/kpac_dhcp_helper.dir/kpac_dhcp_helper.c.o cd /tmp/tdelibs.build/tdeio/misc/kpac && /usr/bin/gcc -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -D_LARGEFILE64_SOURCE=1 -fPIC -I/opt/trinity/include -I/opt/trinity/include/tqt -I/tmp/tdelibs.build/tdeio/misc/kpac -I/tmp/tdelibs.build -I/tmp/tdelibs.build/tdecore -I/tmp/tdelibs.build/kjs -I/tmp/tdelibs -I/tmp/tdelibs/dcop -I/tmp/tdelibs/tdecore -I/tmp/tdelibs/tdecore/network -I/tmp/tdelibs/tdeio -I/tmp/tdelibs/tdeio/tdeio -I/tmp/tdelibs/kded -fPIE -o CMakeFiles/kpac_dhcp_helper.dir/kpac_dhcp_helper.c.o -c /tmp/tdelibs/tdeio/misc/kpac/kpac_dhcp_helper.c Linking C executable kpac_dhcp_helper cd /tmp/tdelibs.build/tdeio/misc/kpac && /usr/local/bin/cmake -E cmake_link_script CMakeFiles/kpac_dhcp_helper.dir/link.txt --verbose=1 /usr/bin/gcc -fPIC -pie CMakeFiles/kpac_dhcp_helper.dir/kpac_dhcp_helper.c.o -o kpac_dhcp_helper -L/opt/trinity/lib /usr/local/bin/ld: /usr/lib/crt1.o: relocation R_X86_64_32 against `_DYNAMIC' can not be used when making a shared object; recompile with -fPIC /usr/lib/crt1.o: error adding symbols: Bad value collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status *** Error code 1 At this pount adding "-shared" does not solve the problem: /usr/bin/gcc -fPIC -pie CMakeFiles/kpac_dhcp_helper.dir/kpac_dhcp_helper.c.o -o kpac_dhcp_helper -L/opt/trinity/lib -shared /usr/local/bin/ld: CMakeFiles/kpac_dhcp_helper.dir/kpac_dhcp_helper.c.o: relocation R_X86_64_PC32 against symbol `get_port' can not be used when making a shared object; recompile with -fPIC /usr/local/bin/ld: final link failed: Bad value collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status So, what am I missing?
