problem with kmail

I am running kubuntu-kde3.5 version 9.10 amd64. Whenever I try to send an email using konqueror 1.9.10 using KDE 3.5.10, kmail crashes when I click the send button. I have tried to switch it to using the send later instead of the send now, but it still crashes. If I go back into kmail and right click on the message in my outbox, I can click send queued messages and it goes through. Please let me know if anyone has any suggestions. -- Jonathan R. Not receiving Bugzilla mail

Hi, It seems I'm still not able to sign up to Bugzilla. I don't get the sign up e-mail when I fill in my address. The reason the Kubuntu KDM theme doesn't show, is because the directory kdm-settings in the source and when installed /etc/default/kdm.d is missing from kubuntu-default-settings-kde3. Is there a reason this was removed? It would be nice if it could be added back, so the Kubuntu theme in KDM would work again. Thanks, Julius

enhancement of kopete crypto plugin

Hello kopete users, if you are using the cryptoplugin of kopete you might be also annoyed by the visual overhead ("Outgoing Encrypted Message:") which is constantly printed with each incoming and outgoing message and consumes more space than the real messages. Long ago there has been a bug report on this issue (https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=77486), a patch was submitted and the bug was closed as fixed, but the patch never came into a final Debian or Ubuntu release, I think because of KDE4. But what about applying this patch against the KDE3 remix repository now? The patch is hosted here: http://kde-apps.org/content/show.php?content=40844&vote=good&tan=7513769 I also would like to help getting this patch applied. But I had some problem with the compilation of the kopete package. Normally I just do apt-get build-dep <package> apt-get -b source <package> and the binary package is generated from the source package. upgrading from 8.04

Hi, I stayed with 8.04 since it came out now and wonder how to best procedd to 9.10 with kde3. should I upgrade to 9.04/kde3 first, then move on or directly go 9.10? Can't remove kde3

I've decided that on one of my machines I can use KDE4, so I'm trying to remove KDE3 on that system. One package won't uninstall and it is messing up my updates: $ sudo aptitude remove ksmserver-kde3 Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... configure cannot find KDE headers

Hello, does someone know who to tell a configure script where to find the KDE headers? When I try to compile a certain KDE application, configure fails with the following error: [...] checking for KDE... configure: error: in the prefix, you've chosen, are no KDE headers installed. This will fail. So, check this please and use another prefix! I have the following KDE devel packages installed: - kdebase-kde3-dev - kdelibs-kde3-dev Am I missing any package? I tried the prefix returned by "kde-config --prefix": ./configure --prefix=/opt/kde3 But the error remains the same. Do you have any ideas? Regards, Stefan

Brand new installation of Ubuntu with some KDE aplications: better to use Kubuntu-kde3-iso + Gnome Desktop or Ubuntu-iso + Kde3 Package Repository ?

Hi everyone, If I'm doing a brand new installation, and I will use Gnome in the end, but with some KDE applications, what is best? Install the ISO for Kubuntu 9.10 + KDE 3.5 and then install Gnome Desktop or Install official Ubuntu release and follow http://apt.pearsoncomputing.net/install.html ? Thanks in advance :-)
