Is this a bug with TDE? Or does every clipboard do this?
- Open Firefox, load a website - Copy the URL - Paste it into a blank Kwrite (works) - Close Firefox - You can no longer paste the URL anywhere
Not a real biggy, just wondering.
Best, Michael

Yep, I've seen this too (albeit not with Firefox). I did not think it was TDE, but I'd have to test under another DE.

I had this issue with modern KDE before I switched to TDE. It also happens with every other one of my Linux devices running various different desktops and distributions (The ones I've tried are Ubuntu Touch, Mate, Cinnamon, Gnome, and XFCE).
I noticed it only within the last year or so. I'm not sure what changes or if I'm going insane.

I notice something like that from time to time. Whatever the reason for it, you can always go to Klipper's Clipboard History and select whatever item you want to paste.

This actually works as in the X11 specs defined. The responibility for the content of the clipboard lies in the hands of the application you copy from, not the OS. When you close the application, the clipboard vcontent is gone. If you run something like klipper it works as a buffer and keeps the clipboard content even when the providing application is gone.

Hi Dan,
I've been using Klipper for that exact reason for awhile! Thanks!
Hi Nik,
Well, it's good to know why it does it. Even if I think that's a pretty back-assward spec.
Thanks All, Michael
