Hi it seems TDE would freeze whenever I try to change the icon of some
app. Attached is a picture describing the issue. Is this a known bug?
what can I do to fix it?

You probably encountered a problem with some of icon that leads to such
freezing - see:
https://mirror.git.trinitydesktop.org/gitea/TDE/tde/issues/46
Unfortunately, it is not yet analyzed and resolved. You can try to see if
you have installed in your case one of the icons that is in the attached
archive and move them away from the directories for icons.

tried to remove some of the installed icon packages (e.g.,
adwaita-icon-theme), but that didn't fix the problem. I also looked
at the 6 SVG files attached in that bug report but my system *does
not* have any of them. So my issue is probably not caused by those 6
SVG files.
Then I (apt-get) remove the hicolor-icon-theme package, which removes
almost all trinity dependencies. Then I reinstall trinity and now
everything seems to work fine again.
Not an ideal way of debugging (I still don't know what exactly causes
the problem), but at least it works. Hope you will find the real root
cause and fix it soon.

For the record, this has now being fixed and users on PSB/PTB should have the updated
packages soon.
If anyone still has problems with SVG files, please upload the images at the issue above
and reopen it.

Yes, this happened to me before. It usually means there's a corrupted files on
your user. I had to start fresh and rebuild my user settings.
