Suggestions for a tiny screen

My eyes are no more what they were, however I've always likes the idea to run Linux on a tiny thing (got some Sharp Zaurus) and I've purchased a (second hand) GPD Pocket (I thing I got the idea from a post on this list). OK, so I've installed my favourite MX-Linux (and TDE) on it. However, the 1200x1920 screen has very tiny pixels and the setup is quite uneasy (with magnifying glass sometime), so before I poke everywhere to try, maybe someone here âlready went through sometiing like that and could suggest settings that work. I notices that TCC lists the sceen as "Philips PHL 273V7" but Internet search suggests it's a 27" monitor.... I would: Scaling? Can we do that in TDE? And this machine won't stand KDE (neither would I). xfce did a little better, not much. Change the screen size? I'd like to try something like 600x960 but nothing such is offered by TCC Thierry

Making Trinity aware of Java applications

My preferred text editor is jEdit, which is written in Java. Its installer doesn't create an icon in the Kicker menu, but using the Menu Editor, I can create one "manually;" but though I can use it to launch jEdit, TDE doesn't notice that it is running when I log out of my session and doesn't restore it when I log back in. I notice that if I right-click on the icon in my panel and select Configure jEdit Button and then in the Application tab, click on Advanced Options, an undocumented selector called DCOP registration with choices None (default), Multiple Instances, Single Instances, and Run Until Finished. Could this be a way to make TDE aware when this application is running so that it can restore it when a new session is started? Leslie

Need some help with kmail regexp filters

I'm trying to filter some semi-constant noise from the subject fields of mail items in a subfolder, but I can't get my filter to work. Clearly, I'm doing something fundamentally wrong, but I can't see what. Here are some examples of Subject fields: SUSE-SU-2026:0245-1: Security update for php7 openSUSE-SU-2026:10079-1: python311-weasyprint-68.0-1.1 on GA media and here is the filter that doesn't work (quoted to show where there are spaces): "(open)?SUSE-SU-[0-9]{4,4}: ?[0-9]{1,5}-[0-9]{1,2}: " which kregexp interprets as: Repeated at Most 1 Time: "open" "SUSE-SU-" Repeated Exactly 4 Times: One of the following Characters: from 0 to 9 ":" Repeated at Most 1 Time: " " Repeated From 1 to 5 Times: One of the following Characters: from 0 to 9 "- " Repeated From 1 to 2 Times: One of the following Characters: from 0 to 9 ": " What am I overlooking/misunderstanding here? Choose logout choices

Hello all, I am configuring an old UpBoard (SBC) with Trinity as Desktop. I plan that this machine will be used by people who know little (or nothing) about Linux and maybe even computers. The point is: when I right-click the desktop and choose "logout", I get a lot of possibilities: Logout, Shutdown, Restart, Freeze, Suspend, Hibernate and Hybrid suspend. I'd like to have only the three first ones. Would removing TDEPowersave do that (Powersave is no use as this SBC does not have any battery)? Or is there any otherway to configure that (maybe in TDM, as running with lightdm offered only "logout")? Thierry

no TDE system sounds in Trixie

TDE produces no desktop sounds, Kmix volume control is dead, though mute works, and KControl Sound System Test Sound produces nothing regardless of selected device. OTOH, aplay works fine.
