Why do you have to nuke anything? Install it along with whatever you have. Give it a try. If you like it, you can then nuke -- or keep! -- whatever you have now. If you don't like it nuke it. Or keep it to retry later. You can have a dozen desktops if you have the drive space.

I'm afraid to nuke my system to install TDE, because I tried installing openSuse in a VM, and when running the commands to install TDE, they all errored out.
So I guess I will just wait it out, until everything is fully functional again.
