What is the command for a complete app install? The command I had to run was tde-tdebase which didn't install any apps except for Konsole etc. Thanks,ChrisCHRMAR3@AOL.COM

How did you install?
Installing for Ubuntu is:
sudo apt-get update sudo aptitude install kubuntu-default-settings-trinity kubuntu-desktop-trinity
(more infos on the wiki).
There are no install instructions specific to Mint, however Mint being Ubuuntu based that's what I would choose. Any Mint users could tell more.
Some installs don't include TDM or other stuff, so I usually search in synaptic for "trinity" and install what I feel is missing.
tde-base (as far as I know) is a metapackage that includes only the basics. On Debian based ditributions aptitude install tde-trinity does the job.
Once TDE is installed you should be able to choose it as DE at login.

Full Debian instructions are on: https://wiki.trinitydesktop.org/Debian_Trinity_Repository_Installation_Instructions Installation instructions for others are on https://www.trinitydesktop.org/releases/R14.1.6/
Only installing tdebase-trinity gets a minimal basic installation. The whole kitchen sink in Debian comes from installing tde-trinity.

You could selectively install what you know you need based upon this list, e.g. kmix-trinity & ksnapshot-trinity. It's what I do to wind up with around 60+ TDE packages installed, plus their Debian deps.

This might be totally irrelevant, and if so, please ignore me. However, I haven't noticed anybody mentioning tdm-trinity.
Make sure that tdm-trinity is installed, and it would be a good idea to run this command:
sudo dpkg-reconfigure tdm-trinity tde-tdebase
Mainly you want to reconfigure tdm-trinity, so that you can use that are your display manager.
In some installations, years and years ago, I would get everything installed, all of it apparently correct, but this last command was needed to allow me to login using the Trinity desktop rather than another. (I personally use XFCE when installing.)
Also, there is no shame in using a GUI to get there. The method that Felix uses is a little beyond my own capabilities at present, mainly because I am limited to just one machine; so if anything goes wrong, I can't get online to get help, or to communicate with the TDE mailing list.
The main thing is, keep track of what you are doing, so that you make progress by small steps.
Since you have posted screenshotss of your folder in icon mode, I surmise that perhaps you are not an elite hacker, so maybe a GUI approach would be better. And by the way, XFCE leaves behind less cruft than other desktops.
The method proposed by Felix is better, in that you end up with a machine that runs only TDE, and you don't get surprises from leftover installations of other DEs, but it also isn't for everybody, and certainly not for somebody who is just starting out with TDE.
Good luck!

As his screenshots show he's obviously in a TDE session, I chose to not digress from the problem accessing his data partition, assuming LightDM or whatever got installed with Cinnamon is up to the task of starting TDE by opening /usr/share/xsessions/trinity.desktop. Switching DM can wait.

I stick to the underlying basics as much as practical. Different DEs provide different tools for various admin tasks. I have no idea what Cinnamon offers in distinction to anything else, much less how to use it.
Just because I have lots of PCs and installed distros doesn't mean I have every possible combination, as even if I cared to, I could never come close, much less be familiar with so many different tools. Chris started with what he started with, so I try to help without destroying what he has that does work in the process, while hoping he learns something from tasks I present, and can be satisfied with whatever results.
I haven't mentioned anything about ACLs. I don't use them, so am unfamiliar with how they work and how to control them, but they could be involved with how Cinnamon setup his data partition, and could be interfering with my attempts to help.
Perhaps it would help Chris to peruse an overview of permissions and ownerships, e.g. from: https://www.linuxjournal.com/content/mastering-linux-file-permissions-and-ownership It has a cursory overview of ACLs.

This might be totally irrelevant, and if so, please ignore me. However, I haven't noticed anybody mentioning tdm-trinity.

I do apologize, Felix. That was due to my own misunderstanding of the situation. It is partly due to the fact that I have rather a lot going on in my own life at the moment, so I feel more harried and life is hectic, and I feel rushed in too much of what I have to do. Then there is my eyesight, as well, which is giving me problems, and I don't know how to cope.
In fact, I did not actually *see* his next set of screenshots, as I missed the attachment entirely.
My eyes have been changing quite dramatically over the past several years, and nobody can tell me why. I have worn glasses since age 13, have always been near-sighted, and my vision has always gotten progressively worse ... until only a few years ago, when suddenly my long-distance vision seemed to improve, to the point where I do not need to wear glasses at all any more for driving a vehicle. It is very strange, but that part seems an improvement.
On the other hand, my near vision has deteriorated to the point where it seems that I will need to start using a magifying glass pretty soon. I need to get a new prescription for reading glasses almost every year, and practically as soon as I get them, my close vision gets fuzzy.
This is a big problem with me not so much for reading books or other physical printed matter, as my vision is still good enough. But I have a hard time reading computer screens, especially the very small type in certain other desktops that are not TDE.
I have mentioned my problem before here on the list, about not being able to read the fine print on screens. This is also a problem for writing on-screen, as I often find myself leaving out *not* in a sentence, which completely changes the meaning; or when I am typing fast, I mix up similar keystrokes such as *that* and *than*, etc.
Anyway, I missed it, didn't see the second attachment, and I had thought that Chris was saying that he had got TDE installed but couldn't get into the desktop, that he was still in a Cinnamon session. And that's why I thought maybe the problem was that tdm-trinity was not fully installed, or configured, or whatever it is that causes it. I have had that happen several times in the past.
In my defense, however, I did say, if this is irrelevant, please ignore me. (See above.) And I apologize, too, for the long explanation ... which is why I changed the title of this part of the thread.

This is actually a good resource for everybody. I learned a couple things from this myself.
As far as Chris and his difficulties getting TDE installed, I would say not to let himself get discouraged. It was a bit rough going for myself, as well, in the beginning, but it's usually something simple and basic that is missed. And you have dozens of people here on the Trinity mailing list who are willing to give their time to help.
